With over 25 years
experience within the construction / building industry, Ste Thiem, the founder
of Shacom Ltd has always been keen to develop solutions for building, construction
and maintenance problems.
Ste came across what is now known as the KOMPAX VCP, whilst looking for another solution to a problem he was having with regards to compacting.
He had a lot of work on his hands, building a driveway, paths and patios, walls, bases for a sheds and a garage. The list seemed endless.
Being only to work at evening and weekends on his newly acquired, ‘dilapidated’, home. The costs involved with hiring a wacker plate on regular basis was far too expensive and not at all cost effective and was therefore not an option.
Yes, he could have bought a ‘cheap’ second hand one, but then there would have been problems of where to store it, moving such a heavy tool around on his own and then the hassles of trying to sell it on again, because it was too big a tool to have around waiting for the next project to start.
So the only suitable option was to get the tool he had found, a tool that was compact in size, light enough to carry around on his own, no problems with storage and he could 'pick it up' whenever he had a project that required compacting and 'put it down' and store it until the next project came along.
. . .but a new problem came to bear . . . the KOMPAX was in Asia and they were in the UK ! and it didn’t conform to our European Standard, the voltage was different, no UK plug, cabling was wrong etc.
Was it worth the hassles of what was about to follow . . . ? YES, because they
are so confident that other tradesmen and DIYers would also find the KOMPAX
an extremely useful and handy tool to have around. (And they weren’t wrong,

So, with a little help from his wife, who has also worked within the construction / building industry, they put the KOMPAX through the specifics of a CE Mark Application to make it conform to European Standards.
That finally achieved some 18 months later, they are at last able to offer it to tradesmen and DIYers throughout Europe.
So with a KOMPAX in hand (he kept one back for himself !) he was able to finish the many projects at his leisure.
